Don’t Be Broke By July: The Case for a Mid-Year Reset

Let me tell you something most financial coaches won’t admit:
I’ve been the person who looked at my account and just closed the app. Not because I didn’t care. Because I couldn’t take it — the guilt, the shame, the “how did I let it get this bad again?”
I’ve been the mom who swipes the card and prays. The business owner juggling bills, taxes, and tuition with zero cushion. The one who looks “fine” from the outside… but inside? Worried sick and too proud to say it.
So when I say, “Don’t be broke by July,” I’m not saying it from some polished pedestal. I’m saying it from the trenches — because I’ve lived it.

You’re not bad with money. You’re just tired.
Summer hits different. It pulls at your wallet and your boundaries. You want to give your kids the fun. You want to feel like you’re living — not just surviving. But overspending isn’t joy. Its avoidance dressed up in a shopping bag.
It’s not just about how much you make.
It’s about what happens when you stop paying attention. That’s why I launched the Track Your Money Challenge — not to restrict you, but to reflect what’s really happening.
When I started tracking again, I saw the why — the patterns, the pressure, the habits that were running the show. And from that awareness, I rebuilt.
If you’re a parent:
Ask yourself — If I didn’t wake up tomorrow, what’s in place for my kids? That question used to haunt me. So I built a plan. Not to scare myself — to free myself.
If you’re a business owner:
Are your expenses just draining you — or could they be repositioned to protect your profits, create tax advantages, and build something sustainable?
July is coming.
So is back-to-school. So are the holidays. So is another year of "I meant to..."
